Losehill House has never been about ostentation. There are no sweeping marble staircases or glittering chandeliers here. Instead, there’s the glow of a crackling fire, the quiet of the hills just beyond the windows, and a sense, as one guest beautifully put it, of being “hugged by the landscape.”
This is luxury with soul - something far rarer than another five-star façade. Built as a place of retreat and community rather than aristocratic splendour, Losehill has retained its original ethos while evolving into something exceptional.
Step outside and the Peak District unfurls at your feet: trails to Mam Tor, Kinder Scout, Edale, and the dramatic ridges of Win and Lose Hill await. Step back inside and you’re greeted by 22 individually designed rooms, a tranquil Thalgo spa with a valley-facing hot tub (the only full service spa in the Peak District), and the two-AA Rosette Grafene Restaurant, where menus celebrate Derbyshire at its finest - from Ladybower trout and locally foraged greens to regional gins and whiskies.
But what makes Losehill truly unforgettable isn’t just the landscape or the food - it’s the people. Many of the team have been here for years, forging bonds with guests that turn first-time visitors into lifelong regulars. The Roden family, who’ve stewarded Losehill for 18 years, are here most days, ensuring that every detail - from the wildflowers planted outside to the warmth of the welcome - reflects a personal, heartfelt approach.
In June 2025, as our 111th anniversary was celebrated across regional and national media, The Star (Sheffield) called Losehill “a landmark for heritage and heartfelt hospitality.” It’s a title we’re proud to hold, but more than that, it’s a reminder of what we’ve always been: a place where history, comfort, and care come together in perfect harmony.
That same balance of heritage and heartfelt hospitality is also captured in our 2025 rebrand. The new visual identity - from our logo and typography to the use of the arch device taken directly from Losehill’s own doorway - brings the essence of the house into everything we share. Our colours mirror the landscape outside: soft green for the valley slopes, warm stone for the farmhouse walls, and darker accents for the peaks and woodlands. It’s a way of ensuring that the story you see on paper and online reflects the experience of being here in person - grounded in history, refreshed for today.
This year, we invite you not just to read our story, but to write your own chapter within it.
