Why Autumn Weddings at Losehill House Are So Special

An Autumn Wedding in the Heart of the Peak District

There's a particular kind of magic to an autumn wedding in the Peak District. The hills turn gold and copper, the air sharpens, and the whole landscape seems to lean into the occasion.

At Losehill House, a family run hotel set within the Peak District National Park, that seasonal drama becomes the backdrop to your day as the hills do half the decorating for you.

The Colours of the Season, Right Outside Your Door

Look out from the lawns or the gazebo and you'll see Win Hill and the Hope Valley dressed in their autumn colours, bracken turning russet against the fells. It's the kind of view that photographs beautifully in soft, low autumn light, whether your ceremony takes place outdoors or in the light filled Orangery.

Exclusive Use, Just for You and Yours

An autumn wedding at Losehill House often means exclusive use of the whole hotel for 24 hours, with no other guests and no strangers at the bar.

All 22 Rooms, One Weekend, One Wedding

All 22 en-suite bedrooms are included, sleeping up to 50 guests with breakfast included. Your ceremony can take place in the Orangery, licensed for civil, humanist and civil partnership ceremonies for up to 100 guests, before moving out to the lawns for a drinks reception.

Space to Celebrate, Inside and Out

As the evening draws in, the Orangery opens into the lounge bar to create a private party space for up to 120 guests. For a smaller day, the Moorgate Suite holds up to 40 for an intimate ceremony and reception without exclusive use, and our private dining room suits gatherings of up to 10.

A Wedding Breakfast Built for Autumn

Autumn is a generous season in the kitchen, and our team makes the most of it. The wedding breakfast is rosette quality throughout, built around local and sustainable Derbyshire produce and shaped around what matters most to you, from canapés to a late night spread for the dancing.

Cosy Corners for Cooler Days

This is where an autumn wedding has the edge. As the temperature drops outside, Losehill House leans into its cosier side: a fire in the lounge, a dram from the whisky selection, a pint of local Thornbridge ale.

The terrace hot tub is a particular favourite in autumn, with views over Win Hill that feel entirely different wrapped in steam against a crisp evening.

The Morning After, Wrapped in Mist

There's no need to rush the morning after your wedding. A dip in the hot tub, a soak in the indoor heated pool or a spell in the sauna, followed by a cooked to order breakfast while the valley below sits under an autumn mist. It's a quiet, easy start to married life.

Is an Autumn Wedding Right for You?

Autumn weddings suit couples drawn to shorter days, warm, low light, a cosier kind of celebration, and who like the idea of a fire crackling somewhere nearby just in case the weather turns.

With the Orangery, lounge and bedrooms all under one roof, your day can move easily between indoors and out, whatever the Peak District decides to do with the weather.
